Project:
- Build a comprehensive web site for a major university academic department
- Roll out a content management system used by dozens of faculty and staff
- Integrate third-party CMS modules to quickly deploy new features
- Develop custom CMS modules for project-specific needs
Yale University's astronomy department had an ambitious wishlist for their new web site: a dynamic news and events calendar, faculty and student web pages, research project spotlights, an online course catalog, and public viewing information for the on-campus observatory and planetarium. In addition, staff members needed the ability to maintain the web site in-house with different access levels for different staffers. Working with provided artwork, Unitz created the site using the free Drupal content management system, a versatile platform capable of meeting Yale's needs for years to come.

- Tightly integrate photos, interactive maps and other Web 2.0 features
- Deliver powerful tools for site management and administration
Social networks have shown that the web can bring people together in exciting and unexpected ways. Segway relied on Unitz' expertise when creating Segway Social, a resource designed specially for the active community of Segway PT owners and enthusiasts. Starting with a provided design, Unitz built a powerful platform to allow users to interact by forming groups, participating in message boards, sharing photos and tagging favorite glide routes on a map. In addition to serving current owners, the site also acts as a persuasive showcase for prospective customers.

Project:
- Create site for ooVoo users to sign up for sessions with Blogger hosts
- Administration area for hosts to schedule events, view participants, etc.
- Validate participants and automate informative emails
ooVoo makes a video conferencing application with major appeal. When they wanted to build name recognition, they organized a worldwide event called "My ooVoo Day With..." enabling popular bloggers to host ooVoo video chat sessions with their fans. Unitz was called in to build the website. It first allows administrators to create accounts for the hosts, and then allows the hosts to log in and schedule their sessions, upload their photo, and edit their biographies and other information. Fans can then view the available sessions and sign up. The website was created to be highly automated, managing signups and sending out validation and reminder emails while requiring as little maintenance as possible. The effective campaign instantly helped generate buzz and expand the audience for ooVoo's service.

In partnership with a designer, Unitz met each of the non-profit's goals, working closely with staff members to develop a sophisticated site with several hundred pages, two partner microsites, multiple databases and user-friendly content management. Unitz created eFAV, MBA's online service, offering MBA's customers flexible access to aircraft data and valuable features such as graphs, comparisons and customized aircraft portfolios. eFAV allows customers to try out the service, then purchase subscriptions online by credit card to receive immediate access. MBA maintains the service with the help of powerful management tools and detailed statistics developed by Unitz. Built using proven open source technologies and a modular framework, eFAV adapts easily to new features and now acts as the platform for MBA's full range of online services.

Managing Director, Head of Global Sales and Marketing, Morten Beyer & Agnew
Morten Beyer & Agnew first turned to Unitz to create eFAV, a platform allowing its customers to purchase and access aircraft valuation data online. When MBA developed a financial model to forecast aircraft bond investments, Unitz took on the task of adapting the model for the web. Unitz worked with MBA to understand the complex financial calculations involved, then used its database and programming expertise to design a framework capable of efficiently storing enormous data tables and supporting several different bonds. Unitz delivered the bond models in line with a strict timeline specified by MBA to satisfy its customers' requirements. To streamline development, Unitz integrated the bond models with eFAV, making use of MBA's existing user system and aircraft values database. Unitz has maintained the bond models by making timely updates and adding features to keep pace with the needs of MBA and its customers.

Along with its partner organizations, CDS International administers the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program, now celebrating its 20th anniversary supporting foreign exchange between young people in the United States and Germany. To maintain contact with and between former American participants of CBYX, CDS International came to Unitz to create CBYX.net, an online meeting place and resource for program alumni. Unitz adopted phpBB, an established open source message board platform, as the foundation for the site, enhancing the software to add features such as a participants directory and career network. By incorporating freely available, high-quality software during development, Unitz was able to deliver a robust, cost-effective site serving thousands of former participants. CBYX.net makes it easy for the administering organizations to maintain alumni contact information, recruit volunteers, and spread the word about news and events.
